Burger King

Menu and nutrition information for Burger King

Known as The Home of the Whopper, Burger Kings become the second largest burger chain in the world behind McDonalds with 12,200 outlets in 73 countries. The first store opened in Jacksonville, FL in 1953 under the name InstaBurger King, a title that referenced burgers being cooked with an InstaBroiler. By 1959, James McLamore and David Edgerton took over franchising duties and changed the name to Burger King of Miami. The Whooper, a burger made with a flamegrilled quarterpound beef patty and topped with veggies and mayo, was introduced in 1957 and has since been used extensively in advertising campaigns along with the Have It Your Way slogan. BKs rolled out double and triple Whoopers, various chicken sandwiches, angus burgers, a Big Fish sandwich, single to triple stacked burgers, breakfast items like the Croissanwich, and recently added unsalted fries and a veggie burger to the menu. BK invented a new concept called the Whopper Bar where kiosks located in touristy sections of major cities grill gourmet burgers not typically offered at Burger Kings regular stores. South Beachs Whopper Bar is the only location that serves beer making BK the first burger chain to serve alcohol.
